The ice hung in daggers
from the eave of the garage,
creating a gauntlet to those who walked below,
and despite reason
I inched treacherously close,
mesmerized by its sheen like clean glass
And finding one fallen, hidden in the bed of snow,
I brandished it like a crystal sword
as I controlled nature
until it escaped between my fingers,
soaking my gloves.
